CAAAR brought together groups of national and international scholars. Several conferences took place to discuss significant issues. CAAAR also hosted one Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Professor in African and/or African-diaspora research. A number of lecture series were presented bu these scholars, who would ideally teach one or two courses at Duke, advise students, and make major progress on a scholarly publishing or film making project.
